Shamrock
The shamrock knot is a decorative knot that forms four ‘leaves’ around a central bud.
Start with the center of the rope at the back of the neck. (You do know how to find the center? right?) have the ends of the rope hanging down in front of the shoulders.
Tie a McCrown.
On the outside part of each overhand knot, there are two ropes laying on each other. With each hand, reach between these two lines.
With thumb and index finger, grab the inside most edge of the opposite overhand knot.
Pull your hands apart. The inside edge of each overhand knot will pass through the outside edge of the opposite knot.
The central bud may take some adjusting before it forms a nice symmetrical pattern.
Duplicate this knot all the way down the front of the torso. Now the harness can be finished in the usual way as with a rope dress by lacing another line on the sides of the body.
The finished harness is shown here with a single pass on the left and right ‘leaves’ of the shamrock. For a fuller look, try lacing twice through the left and right ‘leaves’ and once through the top and bottom ‘leaves’.
