Rope shackle
Made popular by the Knotty Boys. There has been some debate about what this knot should be called. But “shackle” is what the Knotty Boys call it so that’s what probably should be used. (If you want to act like you are “old rope” then call it a page-7 knot and watch as everyone is impressed by how badass you are.)
Start with the center of the rope. You do know how to find the center? right?
Make several wraps around the limb. Try to make it so both ends of the rope are of equal length.
Start with one end of the rope. Bring it over all the coils.
Now bring it under all the coils EXCEPT ITSELF.
Tighten up carefully. You will now do the same thing with the other end of the rope.
Bring the end over all the coils.
Now bring it under all the coils EXCEPT ITSELF.
The final cuff lays flat against the skin, and is very symmetrical and beautiful. Please note, however, that equal tension should be kept in both ends. Putting force on only one of the ends of the rope and not the other will cause this cuff to capsize.
