gravity boot

Inverted suspention often is uncomfortabal as the majority of single-limb cuffs wind up putting excess strain on the acheles tendon. This cuff, along with beind decorative, loads directly perpenduclar to the sole of the foot and has low strain on the acheles tendon.

The quick way to remember this is : No tucks on the first 3 / One tuck on the next 3 / lock off

Start with the center of the rope over the big toe. This wont stay here, it just positions the rope at the correct length for the final lock off step

Bring the rope behind the ankle. This complets the first wrap. Note there is no tucking done at this step

Bring the rope around the sole of the foot. This is the second wrap.

Cross at the arch of the foot, again using no tucks.

Bring the rope behind the ankle once more. This completes the third wrap.

Now the tucks begin. Pass the rope over the first pair of ropes and under the second pair of ropes.

Pull the rope all the way through. The over-and-under crossing pattern on top of the foot should be obvious.

Bring the rope under the sole of the foot. This finishes the first wrap with tucks (4th total wrap)

Make the second tuck. This time passing under the first pair of topes and over the second

Pull the rope all the way through. Again, the over-and-under pattern whould be obvious.

Bring the rope behind the ankle. This completes the second wrap with tucks (5th total wrap)

Make the third tuck. This time going over the first pair, under the second pair, and over the third pair. (You are only tucking under ONE pair of lines)

Pull the rope all the way through. Again, the over-and-under pattern should be obvious. (Advanced riggers will know that this pattern can be repeated after this, using 2 or more tucks at each pass from this point foward)

Bring the rope under the sole of the foot. This compleets the third wrap with tucks (6th wrap total)

To lock this tie in place, use the ‘over all / under all / tie’ method fimilar to tying the bolabola. Start with passing the line over the three pairs of coils.

Pass the line under the three sets of coils

Pull the rope all the way through. Note that in this example the line exits ‘foward’ of the half hitch. Exiting behind the half hitch works just as well.

Take the center of the loop off the big toe

Pass the line through the ‘bunny ear’ that you just removed off the big toe.

Pull the line all the way through. This line can now be atacked to the hardpoint.

Pulling on the suport line will slide the knot from the side of the foot to where it will ‘lock’ in place at the sole of the foot.
