Grass knot
The grass knot is used for joining together two flat ropes. This demonstrates clearly the difference that rope shape can make. Tied in round rope, this is a grief-knot and will not hold at all.
Begin with the two flat ropes you want to join together.
Fold one end down, crossing it over the other line.
Now fold the line back up, passing it under the other line.
Pass the line over itself. Basicly you have just done a half hitch. Just be careful to keep all the parts flat
Now do the same thing with the other line. Fold it up crossing it over the other
Fold again. Passing it under the other.
Tuck the line over itself. Notice that both working ends are exiting at the top of the knot and are beside each other
As you tighten the knot up, the two ends will come together like the covers of a book that is being snapped shut
This knot can also be tied under tension. Tutorial for how to keep all the difrent parts straight so that no slack sneaks in, will be coming soon
