The traditional overhand knot used for a Karada has several problems with it. The knots dont lay flat. They cant easily be adjusted. And they dont have constant appearance. But all that can be fixed while still using the basic overhand knot.
Start with a basic overhand knot but keep it very loose. Instead of the crossing lines going between each overhand knot, the crossing lines will now go ~on~ each overhand knot.
Rotate the knot around so that you are viewing it edge on. Note how the knot has two sides to it.
Pull the two sides apart as if you were opening a book.
Pull the two sides all the way apart and lay them flat.
The crossing lines can now be passed through each side making a flat and attractive ’split diamond’ pattern.
