Before and after

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Here comes another ‘vague and overly broad’ panic attack. This time its over a Massachusetts law regarding exploitation of the disabled or elderly.
The formula is quite predictable at this point. There is some horrific crime committed. Someone screams ‘there out to be a law’. Nobody notices there already IS a law. Some media whore politician [...]

vague and overly broad

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Well the United Kingdoms CJIB went into efect this past week. The paranoid are comming out of the woodwork with all sorts of theoritical cases where this law might get used againt someone otherwise totaly iniocent.
Usualy this is through some streching and misinterpetation of ’serious injury’. I wrote about this before and pointed out then [...]

They all look the same to me

Time to go all consparicy theory. Now california in the last election baned gay mariage. But in flordia in the same voting cycle, gay mariage was baned along with all other institutions resembling mariage. No civial unions. No domestic partnerships. No common law mariage. Nothing. So if the flordia law is more opresive to gay [...]

In retrospect I should have seen it comming.
I had written before about the ‘PROTECT Our Children Act’. It had all sorts of dangerous stuff in the bill, from spying on internet trafic to re-criminilizing ‘fake’ porn even after a 2002 supreme court ruling said soing such a thing was unconstitutional. All sexual-rights orgnizations I knew [...]

I swear they must be doing this stuff on purpose.

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

You may remember back in 2002 the supreme court struck down as uinconstitutional a ban on ‘virtual child pornography’. The reasoning was, that since no real children were being harmed, then a law to ‘protect the children’ was kind of pointless when directed at computer generated fake images.
The case was Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition [...]

circle jerk

So back in may there was yet another in a long string of ‘dear god, our freedoms are being destroyed’ panic atacks. This time over an oregon law banning the sale of porn to those under 18. At the time I didnt think much of it. A law banning the sale of guns to those [...]

zombie law

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

In zombie films, when the hero kills the zombie it just stands up againt 10 secons later. A monster like this should be feered. But what if the zombie didnt get back up after it was killed? Would the hero be justified in contiuning to be frightened of such a monster?
This week, COPA was struck [...]

NY’s Top Child Porn

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

In the quaint old days of the internet, before forums and mailing lists and yahoogroups, was a place called usenet. It is still around today, but due to an encoding method that changes video and audio files into text and back again, it is now home mostly to people swaping pirated movies and songs.
Well thatss [...]

Porn that is degrading toward women

Monday, July 7th, 2008

This is one of those stories that dosent make sense even when youve heard it twice.
I recently found out about a case in canada againt the Little Sisters bookstore. They sell porn, and theirfore have had some cencership issues. The supreme court of canada recently ruled that what happened to them *IS* cencorship. However, the [...]

Dammit! Where are the pics?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Ok, so a judge in a porno trial had porn on his homepage. The legal aspects of this I will comment on at some other time. For now, I know the question on everyones mind is ‘So lets see em!’
The website is now offline. I tried seeing if there was anything in the google cache, [...]
