more comercials
Not much of an update for now, but there is more info I have discovered about those ‘baned’ ikea commercials from last time. There is another one floating around. http://www.dailyhappypill.com/funny_commercials_ikea_uptight.htm Like last time, the tag line says the commercial is banned, but this time there is something more.
The tag line makes it seam as if the commercial only played in Europe when it uses the expression ‘These Europeans certainly know how to live’. However, the commercial did play in the united states. Ikea switched its advertising agency to Carmichael Lynch and this is one of two commercials prepared for the North American market.
Secondly, this commercial can never be claimed to ‘paint BDSM in a negative light’ like so many other depictions of BDSM in the media are claimed to do. The negative in this case is being organized and the stereotype that goes with it of being boring. BDSM in this case is used to show a couple as being fun and happy.
Thats not just a coincidence either. That was intentionally planed. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20010313/ai_n13893875 According to Jud Smith, the creative director for the advertising agency, the commercial was based upon research and was intended to give the message that BDSM is something to be enjoyed.
