Proof of consparicy
I got sucked into a pair of cyber debates recently. One in a chatroom, the other on a newsgroup. In both, facts were presented and from those the conclusion was drawn that we obviously must be living in a police state.
First one ….. Guy builds a car that can run on water. Soon after that he dies unexpectedly. From this we can conclude that the evil oil cartel had him murdered so that the secret of a water powered car wouldn’t destroy their monopoly.
Well, I never was much for conspiracy theory in the first place. It didn’t help matters much that the guy informing me didn’t even get the name of the inventor right. At first he said it was John Searle. I was the one who had to point out to him that it was actually Stanley Meyer.
Now technically what he said was true. The guy built a car that ran on water. Then the guy died unexpectedly. However, there was a lot let out. The car did run on water, but water was only the raw ingredient to make the real fuel of hydrogen. His patent was filed in 1992 and his death was in 1998. So even though his death did come after his invention, its unlikely that one was the cause of the other. Also he died of an aneurysm. Such cause of death in someone 57 years old may very well be unexpected, but its a stretch to assume that foul play was involved.
In any event, its laughable to claim that the reason for his death was to hide knowledge of his invention. Its patented. And like all patents it is freely available from the Pattent Office website. Here is the ~hidden~ information the oil companies murdered a man for in order to keep you from seeing it.
So what does any of this have to do with BDSM? Well thats the second one.
For a number of years now I have heard people talking on and off about the ‘San Diego Six’. Vice cops raided a BDSM haloween party and arrested 6 of the people there. Therefore this ~proves~ that all perverts everywhere are at risk of being hauled off and thrown behind bars any time some close minded prudish goon objects to what they do sexually.
Well, I never was much for conspiracy theory in the first place. I brushed this aside for years. I always kind of suspected this was a bit overblown but I never dug that deeply into it. When I did all I got was another endless series of writings in the style of “oh woe is me we in the BDSM community are so oppresed” type paranoia.
Well, I found out recently that there is a lot missing out of *that* story as well. None of the six were ever found guilty of anything. When the first case went to trial, it got thrown out of court so fast and so hard that it went into orbit. The prosecuting attorney was officially reprimanded for wasting the courts time. The remaining five cases never even got brought to trial. The whole incident was so embarrassing for the San Diego police, that they now go out of their way to cater to the local BDSM community. So in a way, it was the ‘San Diego Six’ that cause such good relations with the police department to this day.
Conspiracies of evil oil cartels can safely leave out details that don’t agree with their agenda. If anyone does present the omitted data they can always dismiss it as being false propaganda planted there on purpose by the conspiracy in order to deceive people.
Conspiracies of evil close minded prudes leave out details that don’t agree with their agenda. But in this case if anyone gives evidence that we are not living in a police state that data cant be dismissed so easily?
So why did it take so many years for me to even hear this missing information about the ‘San Diego Six’. Why was it that the only data that got repeated and retold over and over was the data that ‘proved’ we live in a police state?
