One track mind
I really should know better than to comment on this whole stupid “Larry Craig” thing. Laws are getting pushed right now that will create mandatory filtering on the internet backbone despite widespread success of filtering being left to individual choice on peoples own computers ….. and for some reason all people seem to be talking about is some issue better suited for a celebrity gossip tabloid.
I guess I should expect nothing different from the sex-positive community. Ignore real dangers in favor of “that man over there is our enemy!” finger pointing. After all, he is a republican and we all just KNOW that republicans are uptight participial prudes who hate sex.
And in Craigs case, we can PROVE he is one of those religious zealots out to destroy any and all sexual freedoms wherever they may be. After all, he voted against same sex marriage rights. Anyone who would dare to vote like that must be a hatemonger. Hes a bigot! A bigot I tell you! He hates us all and has a single minded obsession with sexuality.

With as much paperwork that gets dumped out of Washington, its possible to always find something somewhere that ‘proves’ an individual politician is for or against anything at all. I would hardly consider that proof of them having a single minded zeal on the topic of concern. In fact, a list of bills introduced by Larry Craig this year is readily available. From the looks of things he is much more concerned on Veterans benefits and on Agricultural funding.
Sexual oppression and sexual liberation are two camps that feed off each other. For ever time there is someone on one side willing to lie and distort facts about the ‘gay agenda’ in order to push their camp, there is someone on the other side willing to lie and distort facts about the ‘bigots and hate mongers’ in order to push their camp. The more the liberators yell, the more the oppressors will say “see, this proves they are out to destroy us” and the more oppressors yell, the more the liberators will say “see, this proves they hate us”.
In no way was Larry Craig a crusader against sexuality. But a crusader for medical care of war veterans just dosen’t fit the ‘that man over there is a hate monger’ agenda I guess.
