Political logic
See if you can foilow this ….. there are two groups.
Group A : Controled by the government
Group B : Not controled by the government.
Group B starts screaming and whining that this is not ‘fair’. They claim that both groups should be treated equaly. Ok, so far so good, I would tend to agree that both groups be treated equaly. But here is where it starts to get wierd.
The people in group B claim that the only way to achive equality is that group B has to be controled by the government as well. If anyone in group B isnt being controld by the governemtn, then by golly group B is going to rally together and vote as a group in order to issue in a politician that will FORCE group B to be controled by the government.
So here is where I stumble along in the debate. I look at this and suggest that maybee the reasonable thing to do in order to acheve equality is to remove government control of group A. After all, there is no compelling reason why group A should be under governent control in the first place.
The backlash is instantaneous. Im a hatemonger. Im a biggot. I just dont like group B people. I think everyone should just be group A and eleminate roup B people totaly. Why dont I have any compasion for group B people? I just dont want group B people to have any rights at all.
As if being controled by the government is a ‘right’.
What government control am I talking about? Among them is ‘tax breaks’. If I behave well, and do what Uncle Sam tells me to, I will get rewarded like the little obedient pet that I am. People who dont preform that action dont get the tax break.
Its a situation much like grocery store discount cards. If I give up my right to privacy and let the corperation snoop into my buying habbits, I will get ‘rewarded’ with a discount. But I didnt realy recive anythign from the store. I give money to them when I have a card, I give money to them when i dont have a card. Either way the flow is from me to them. Never from them to me. They just word it in a certian way to make you think you are getting things from them.
A mugger who takes my all the money in my wallet except for $10 did not ‘give’ me $10. A politician who takes all the money in my wallet except for $10 did not ‘give’ me $10.
And its not like politicos fail to see this in other situatyions. The left if always crying about ‘tax breaks for the rich’ and saying those should be eleminated. They never say that those tax breaks shoudl be extended and expanded to everybody. That everyone has the ‘right’ to a tax break and all should be treated equaly under the law.
I just filed my taxes this week. What goal is the goivernment up to when it tries to compel people to get married by offering them a ‘reward’? If all the tax breaks for married couples were eleminated there would be no debate over the issue of gay marrige.

What a clear example! Yes, what you say is so true. Those who take blame the ones who give. Bravo!
