Let me refresh your memory. Columbia University will not condone homophobia. And since the military ‘dont ask dont tell’ policy is clearly bigited and racist and hateful toward homosexuals, then military recuruters shouldent be permited on campus.
Columbia University is also open minded and tolerant toward differing points of view. Thats why they invited Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to come and give a talk. Nevermind the fact that his country publicaly executes homosexuals.
You might think this is a contridiction. That they are both fore and againt gay rights at the same time. But it isnt a contridiction as long as you view it from the corect frame. In both cases it enemy is christian opressers. The large well orgnized well funded bible thumpers are trying to opress anyone difrent than them. Theirfore the enlightened and foward thinking college left have to stand up and fight back.
Back when the Ahmadinejad speach and the ‘we dont have homosexuals in iran’ issue was making headlines, I was frustrated by how sexual rights have been politicised. Picket signs reading ‘Ahmadinejad is bad. Bush is worse.’ Angry shouts about how the bible is actualy promors more violence againt gays than the Qur’an.
I see it again and again. A christian orgnization like the CWA issues a press statement and sexual-minorities flip out thinking it is the new inquisition. Meanwhile Im scratching my head wondering what the opression is. They going to press statement us to death or something? Having rocks thrown at your head hurts a heck of a lot more than a press statement ever could.
I wondered where the actual gay rights activists were. The ones who would actualy stand up for sexual rights as they actualy are instead of just using sexual rights as a diving board to leap into hatred of christians. ….. Well, I found one.
Mike Lucas is a gay porn actor and safe sex advocate. He is also spoken out strongly againt the treatement of homosexualy in islamic countries. Well, he was invited to give a talk at stanford university about AIDS prevention. Predictibaly enough, it wasent long before acusations started flying that he was a racist. His comeback was stunning.

I do very well realize where this reaction is coming from. Stanford is a liberal university, and I very much hope that the good word “liberalism†is not degraded in your institution as it has been degraded by the likes of Michael Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, Ward Churchill, Noam Chomsky and many others. I hope the word “liberal†in the mind of Stanford students still means “progressive†and “broad-minded.†The left symbolizes progress. At least, it has done so in the past. It has always stood for women’s rights, for gay rights, for the rights of African-Americans. The reaction which I see today at Stanford demonstrates to me that there are changes in the left and that these changes are for the worst.
ugol’s law tells me that for any viewpoint, if it exists once, it has to exist mutiple times. So I guess there are liberals who are upset by what has hapened to the liberal movement.
